I'm Mark Turner, and I love theatre & event photography.
My very first experience of theatre photography was with Lionel Blair, Peter Simon, Nicholas Parsons and others almost 25 years ago. As a photographer for The Event newspaper in Norwich, I covered the launch of the Norwich Theatre Royal 1993 pantomime 'Dick Whittington and His Cat'.
Over the past seven years I've been shooting for Dandelion Theatre Arts, who run drama, dance, and vocal classes for children of all ages at The Leatherhead Theatre. In that time I've photographed more than 25 shows and workshops, including several at Epsom Playhouse and The Leatherhead Theatre.
In April 2018 I began my association with Hordern Ciani Limited and have so far photographed eleven productions, plus publicity shoots and rehearsal photography. I started at Leatherhead Rep Theatre Company with exclusive behind-the-scenes access as they prepared and performed a season of weekly repertory theatre - examples of my photographs are published on The Leatherhead Theatre website and in The Stage. I also photographed Swanage Rep Theatre Company's summer 2018 season and the first show of their 2019 season at The Mowlem Theatre, and Leatherhead Rep’s autumn 2018 season.
My other production photography includes:
Old Herbaceous at RHS Rosemoor, Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens & Seaton Jurassic - Kick In The Head
Three Men in a Boat at Avon Mill Garden Centre & Burrow Farm Gardens - Kick In The Head
Leatherhead Drama Festival 2019 - Leatherhead Drama Festival
Death and the Maiden at Cotswold Playhouse, Stroud - Baroque Theatre Company
Leatherhead Panto 2018 - LP Creatives
Liberty Rides Forth! at Waterloo East Theatre - David Kent
Journey’s End at The Leatherhead Theatre - Theatre Reviva!
Fagin? at The Leatherhead Theatre - Kick In The Head
The Secret Garden at Deaton Theatre - Wanstead Fringe (Hordern Ciani Limited)
The George Michael Story at Leatherhead Theatre
Showcase Showdown at The Cavendish Arms, Stockwell - Anything Goez Productions
Additionally I've covered a variety of events, including the launch of Digital Midsummer at Derby Quad, Capel Military Vehicle Show (2017, 2018), The Lord Mayor's Show (2015, 2016, 2017), and Pride in London (2017 and 2019).
My photography style is documentary/reportage, which is ideally suited to capturing the action as it unfolds at theatre productions and workshops, dress and technical rehearsals, events, and in dance/drama classes.
